Moving Your Website to Cid Hosting
Moving hosts doesn't always have to mean rebuilding your website.
If you can provide the required access to your existing hosting account or control panel, we'll review your setup and determine what can be transferred.
We review every move before it starts. Not every website can be transferred as-is.
What we usually need
The more we know about your current setup, the more accurately we can tell you what's involved.
- Current hosting control-panel access
- Domain information (where it's registered and who manages it)
- Website files
- Databases
- Email information, when applicable
- DNS access, when required
Please don't send passwords through a form
Don't include passwords in our contact form or in a regular email. Start by telling us what you're moving — the website address, the current host and whether email is included.
Once we've reviewed your request, we'll arrange how access should be shared through our ticket system, so it stays tied to your account and your request.
What can affect a migration
Most of the work in a move is checking that your website will run the same way on the new server. These are the things that most often add steps:
Old PHP versions
Older code may need updates to run on currently supported PHP.
Unsupported software
Applications that depend on software not available in our environment.
Custom server configuration
Settings that were made at server level by a previous provider.
Large websites
Big file sets and databases take longer to copy and check.
Email volume
Large mailboxes and many accounts need more planning.
DNS configuration
Records for email, subdomains and third-party services must be carried over.
Restricted access
Some providers limit exports, backups or control-panel access.
Proprietary platforms
Hosted website builders may not allow a site to be exported at all.
How a move usually goes
The exact steps depend on your site, but the order is generally the same.
Tell us what you're moving
Send an inquiry with your website address, current host and whether email is included. No passwords at this stage.
We review the setup
We look at what you're running and let you know what's required before the migration begins, including anything that needs extra work.
Access is arranged
We agree how access will be shared through our ticket system, and your Cid Hosting account is prepared.
Files, databases and email are copied
What can be transferred is moved to your new account and checked.
DNS is updated
The domain is pointed to Cid Hosting. DNS changes can take time to reach every visitor.
You review the site
Check your website and email on the new server and let us know if anything looks different.
Keep your old hosting account active until you've confirmed everything works on Cid Hosting. It's your fallback if something needs to be copied again.
Migration questions
Can Cid Hosting migrate my website?
We can assist with transfers when the required hosting or control-panel access is available. Before starting, we review your existing setup to determine what can be transferred and whether additional steps are needed. Some websites need extra work because of old PHP versions, custom server configuration, email setup or limits imposed by the previous provider, so we confirm the details with you before the migration begins.
Can every website be moved?
Not always. Proprietary website builders, platforms that do not allow exports, software that needs an unsupported PHP version, or restricted access at the previous host can limit what can be transferred. We will tell you what we found during the review and what your options are.
Should I send my passwords through the contact form?
No. Please do not include passwords in the contact form or in a regular email. Tell us what you are moving first. Once we have reviewed the request, we will arrange how access should be shared through our ticket system.
Will my email be moved too?
Email can often be moved, but it depends on where your mailboxes are hosted today, how much mail is stored and what access is available. Let us know if email is part of the move so we can include it in the review.
Do I need to change my DNS?
Usually, yes. Once the website is ready on Cid Hosting, the domain's DNS or nameservers are updated so visitors reach the new server. If you manage DNS yourself, we will send the details you need. If someone else manages it, they will need to make the change.
