How to Delete Email in Roundcube Webmail

Deleting old messages keeps your mailbox tidy and frees up space in your email and hosting quota. These steps use Roundcube, the webmail app included with your Cid Hosting cPanel account.

1. Log in to webmail

  1. In your browser, go to https://yourdomain.com/webmail (replace yourdomain.com with your own domain).
  2. Log in with your full email address (for example, [email protected]) and your email password.
  3. If you see a list of webmail apps, click Open next to Roundcube. You can also set Roundcube as your default so it opens straight away next time.

2. Delete one or more messages

  1. Click the folder you want to clean up in the left-hand list (for example, Inbox or Sent).
  2. To delete a single message, click it, then click Delete in the toolbar.
  3. To delete several messages, hold Ctrl (or Cmd on a Mac) and click each one. To select everything in the folder, use the Select menu above the message list and choose All. (Current page selects only the messages you can see.)
  4. Click Delete. The messages move to your Trash folder.

3. Empty the Trash to free up space

Messages in Trash still count toward your quota. To remove them for good, open the Trash folder, select all messages and click Delete, or open the folder options menu for Trash and choose Empty.

Important: once you empty the Trash, the messages are gone from your mailbox and can't be brought back from webmail.

Good to know

  • If you also read this mailbox in Outlook or on your phone using IMAP, deleting a message in webmail removes it on those devices too. With POP, messages already downloaded to a device stay there.
  • Deleted something important by mistake? Log in to the client area and open a support ticket as soon as you can. We may be able to restore it from our weekly encrypted NAS backup, but mail that arrived after the last backup may not be in it. How our backups work.
