How to Get Email Headers

This Article will show you how to get full email headers, this information is often needed by support specialists to help locate the source of spam

 

Outlook 2000/2002/2003

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Next double-click to open the email message in a new window.
  3.  Now select View
  4. Then Options from the message's menu.
  5. All the header lines appear under Internet Headers at the bottom of the dialog box.

 

Outlook 2007/2010/2013

  1. To display Email full headers, first open Outlook
  2. Next double click on the Message, which you want to view full email headers.
  3. Then click Options in Outlook 2007 and  Tags for Outlook 2010/2013.
  4. And the  Message Options dialog box is displayed.
  5. The internet headers are shown in the Internet headers field at the bottom of the dialog box

 

 Webmail

  1.  Open Your Webmail (Horde)
  2. In the Inbox click the email message
  3. click on the arrow like icon before the subject of the email
  4. Next click on Other Options then view source.
  5. a new window will pop-up copy the content and paste it to word or text editor to see all the content.
  6. For Roundcube in Webmail
  7. Click message in your Inbox
  8. Then click More in the upper right corner
  9. Select Source, a new window will appear showing the full header.

 

Gmail

  1. Log in to Gmail
  2. Open the Message you want to get or see the full header
  3. Next click the down arrow next to Reply, at the top-right of the message
  4. Then select the Show Original
  5. and the full headers will appear in a new window.

 

Mozilla Thunderbird

  1. Open Thunderbird.
  2. Next double-click to open the email message.
  3. Then from the menu bar, select View, Headers then choose All.
  4. And the headers should be immediately displayed

 

Mac OS X

  1. Open Mail Application
  2. Then select any Message you want to see the full header
  3. Next click on View.
  4. In the View menu select Message, then All Headers
  5. Check the full headers at the top of the message.
  6. To return to default header simply, go to View>Message>Default Headers
